What I Liked: I enjoyed reading this. It was a very easy read, the writing is good and it was well-paced. I thought both of the main characters were likeable. I enjoyed watching both of them grow and develop as the story went on - her learning to enjoy life and him learning to take things more seriously. I thought their dynamic worked well and they had really strong chemistry. The sex scenes in this book are really steamy, which for some reason took me by surprise -
Spoilerand it was nice to see a few masturbation scenes in this, particularly as they were the heroine - I feel like it’s more common to see them involving the hero.

What I Didn’t: There was nothing I really disliked, except that I found Talia a really infuriating character - but I know that was the point
Spoilerand I guess she did apologise for it at the end, but I found the scene where she went to confront Shawn about his wallowing after ending things with Jessie particularly annoying with her attitude about things.

Overall: I had fun reading this, I barely noticed how quickly I was getting through it. It was a light, low-angst read and there was a lot to like about it.
Would I Recommend It?: Yes, if you want a low-angst, sibling’s best friend, forced proximity romance with a lot of steam.
Would I Read Something By The Author Again?: Yes.
Content Warnings:
SpoilerCancer.

5/5 stars for Wrong Bed, Right Roommate, a contemporary romance novel from Rebecca Brooks.

The title it catchy and doesn't leave the reader lingering on as to what the story will be about. Once accident in which Shawn goes into Jessie's bed, thinking it's his sister's room he'll be renting out is only the beginning of this adventure for Jessie and Shawn. The cover that goes along with this book clearly gives away what we'll be reading. It's the fun of finding out if Shawn and Jessie will last that keeps one reading the book.

The plot wasn't too original. We've all heard of the classic story where best friends falls in love with best friend's brother. Nothing new. Brooks, however, adds her own spin to it by creating Jessie as the kind of character who doesn't know if she should continue being with Shawn and risking her friendship with her best friend. While Jessie immediately jumped into sleeping with Shawn, Brooks constantly shows us the inner turmoil in Jessie's brain if she should continue or put an end to it. There wasn't much to the dialogue other than Jessie constantly disagreeing with Shawn which at times got annoying, but it fit with her character. This is why I really couldn't stand her character, because she was annoying. Maybe that's how Brooks wanted her portrayed. Everything in the story flowed rather smoothly and I couldn't put the book down.

If I had to choose, I think Shawn was my favorite character. He seemed to be the most developed, especially when Brooks gave us his backstory. He was the one who changed the most and wanted nothing more than to have people see that change.

I would recommend this book for all the romance lovers out there. This book had everything, from love to hurt. Also, being a native New Yorker who lives in Manhattan, I loved reading about all the places in lower Manhattan that I usually hang out in. It made it easier for me to picture exactly where the characters were located.

This is the first book that i have read by Rebecca Brooks and i doubt that it will be my last.

Shawn Lassiter is the brother of Jessie's best friend Talia, the brother that Jessie had a crush on in high school and the brother that lost them friends in high school after sleeping with them.

With Talia going abroad to work for the summer and their submitter bailing on them, it is Shawn that steps in to help Jessie with the rent while Talia is away, however the chemistry is still there for Jessie and on his first night there Shawn hears something that totally changes his mind about Jessie.

This pair are unable to keep their hands off each other, however they also have insecurities that threaten to pull them apart. Not to mention Talia would not be happy.

Both characters balance each other out. Whilst Jessie is the neat freak who like to organise and puts everyone before her, Shawn is so much more laid back and helps Jessie loosen up a little bit and actually live.

The cast in the book were great and i can see myself looking to read the other books further down the line.

Popsugar 2022: 50) Book in a sister city (NYC)

All the expected tropes in this Best Friend's Brother/Enemies to Lovers/Wrong Bed contemporary romance. I like it when the hot hero has low self esteem because he thinks he's only good for looking at and screwing, so he never goes after the "quiet mousy smart girl who he secretly thinks is super hot because she's prettier than she thinks she is but also because he's super attracted to her smarts."

This was okay. The writing flowed fairly well, but I wasn't a huge fan of the characters. They were both pretty immature, and while Jessie wasn't too bad, Shawn was. I didn't really like him as a hero. I don't have to have over the top alpha millionaires, but I would like a H with a little bit of ambition and strength. I'm not sure that I loved them as a couple, but they do get their HEA in the end. This was a first for me from this author, but I would definitely read her again.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

This book was just what I needed. Yes Shawn had similar issues to Frankie in Muffintop that I said weren't easy to believe, but it came across differently with Shawn. It wasn't this sudden realization that nobody saw him as the happily ever after guy while everything else in his life was peachy. Shawn's afraid he'll never succeed at anything so he's afraid to try, not just at relationships but jobs and just life in general. He knows how everyone else sees him and has known for years so he hides the fact he's craving more because he's afraid to hope he can be more than the mold that everyone has shoved him in. Its believable because it isn't a small trivial thing, it's a major fear and character flaw. His growth isn't immediate, it's gradual and hard earned and that's why its realistic and believable and while it's similar its definitely not the same.

Jessie doesn't even realize how broken she is until Shawn brings color into her life and it's kind of a delight to see her start to live even as she provides that steady interested presence Shawn needs in his life.

I didn't however care for Talia who is the connection between these characters and I didn't like how we didn't get to witness the characters fixing the fuckup their personal lives made of their professional ones. Those are pretty much the only reasons I didn't give this book a five stars because I truly enjoyed it.

Highly recommended.
