I really loved this book. There are much plot holes, which is awesome. This is a pure true love story set in a dark world. I do want to point out that the author is graphic in their descriptions, but they also dedicate time to the recovery of the characters.

Pretty good but the ending dragged on a bit with two kidnapping-esque instances happening one after the other. 
Before that though, I enjoyed it immensely. I like the character interactions. It's not a comedy, but there are light-hearted moments. 
I knew how some things were going to turn out, but I couldn't figure out how they would explain it, so it was satisfying in the end when identities were revealed.

Easy 5 stars. The world building alone is fantastic.  Definitely check trigger warnings, this is not a happy go lucky book, but it had me ask the way hooked.  Can't wait to start the next one

This was a solid Romantasy book - it was predictable in all the best ways & the execution was spot on. 
I knew where the story was going but I throughly enjoyed the ride.  
It was surprisingly heavy in some moments (SA - not on page but eluded to) but I felt like it was handled with care.

Although I do feel like the cover let’s this series down a little, I will definitely be continuing with the series & look forward to the 2nd book in the Duology.

I listened on audio & really liked the narration.

This book was a little hard to follow as there seemed to be a lot of time jumps that left more to be desired. I found the magic system a little hard to understand as well. I think this book would have been more enjoyable for me if it was split into 2 books and the scenes were longer and more detailed. However I did really enjoy this book and I will be reading the sequel.

Too much focus on rape for me. The female lead seemed weak and kinda annoying, while the male lead’s references to her just grated on my nerves. Lots of skimming. Probably not interested enough to read the next one.

Magic wielding mages, powerful ruling archmages, wily fae and complicated demons create a colorful cast of characters in this slow burning fantasy romance. While the romance was swoon-worthy, I found myself longing for more time in the realms Hollee Mands has created; More time with the magical systems, exploration of different magical races, and an overview of the pantheon of gods and goddesses. I’m sure more will be revealed in the next books in this series, and I look forward to exploring Mands’ world and the romantic entanglements that transpire.
