Loved it. The whole trilogy is a 5 star read for me, even though there are a lot of flaws to be recognised. Eowyn deserved better.

I think there is no single book I've read with less attention as this triology! I really can't understand all the "hype" about The Lord of the rings! Actually I started reading it because I just love game if thrones and someone recommended it to me. I have to admit that there is very much thought in the whole world and history but what I didn't like are the people! The hobbits described as creatures who don't like problems but rather have fun and eat suddenly behave like heroes when they meet Frodo and co. Like " it's very dangerous and I could die but of course I will help you and give my life for your dangerous mission though I don't even know what it is about" ugh lame. And also all characters are either black or white except Gollum who was indeed my favourite character in the series! Two stars because of the heart wrenching ending which was unlike the rest of the book, well written.

This book defines the happy ending.
I’m not talking about the cash-only Vietnamese dry-cleaner kinda happy ending.

I’m talking about Samwise Gamgee, if you catch my meaning, sir. Settling back down in the Shire if you follow me. All ends well, Master Frodo.
