Games We Play is the first book by Dana Isaly that I'd read and well, didn't meet my expectation but it's not bad either. The writing can be too over the place, especially the BDSM parts that seems like jumbled and written half-assed (lel, is this even a term XD). The kink kinda come from nowhere too, lol. Like degradation, daddy kink, spanks, humiliation, but imho not that hard to read? BDSM not my favorite theme but I can feel that the BDSM element in this book is not that good.
Anyhoo, despite the criticism, I feel entertained. I think Jack a.k.a Joker will be a jerk but turn up he's a cinnamon roll guys with the right amount of protectiveness and possessiveness. Quinlan is not that bad either, although when -trigger warning there- she talk about her attempt to suicide can be triggering to some. The epilogue kinda cute, tho. So what if they end up married, lol. Lastly I got stressed enough because of work, so the epilogue is like a balm to my soul and remind me why I always love reading romance at the first place.
Games We Play might not be a solid starter for One Night series, but Dana Isaly introduced reader to Jack's friends. Since this is part of series, the book will feature different hero and heroine and their one night, and next is Wes's chance. I hope he's as interesting as Jack, or..better.

4.5 out of 5*s
The first time I read this book, I rated it like a typical novel & I feel like it doesn't deserve that rating because it's not a typical novel. It is spicy smut & for that it definitely deserves a 4.5. My only complaint is that the beginning of the book is super spicy & starts to fizzle as the book goes on which is a little disappointing. The writing is a little repetitive at spots too but other than that, this book was pretty good & im ready for the next!
2.5 out of 5 stars
There was no story line at all in this book, no character development, none of that. But the spice held it all together 5/5 spice 0/5 storyline & 0/5 character devopment.
