Sadly, the books isnt as the same as the tv series so it‘s a no go for me.
I had high hopes when I discovered this book and i loved the tv series but sadly the books is completely different from the series and not as good as the series

I really loved reading this story. It was so interesting and twisted - I hated everything the girls were going through but at the same time was intrigued on how they'd get through it. There was just so much drama and the story is extremely reminiscent of Pretty Little Liars.

The narration of the audiobook was great. She had a very child-like voice, which perfectly matched the characters.
I would have given this novel a higher score if there had been an actual resolution to the main conflict in the story. However, it's left open-ended, ostensibly to be resolved in the sequel. I think the author should have just combined the two as a murder mystery over two novels is kind of tiresome.
Other than that, the book captures the tumult of being a teenager very well. Several times I felt very uncomfortable because the characters' feelings reminded me of stuff in my own childhood.
I liked the variety of characters and personalities.
That being said, I probably won't read the sequel any time soon, mostly due to the split in the storyline.

*KIND OF SPOILERY*
THINGS I LIKED:
-i love sara shepard's writing style and i always have, so no matter the plot/subject of the book i knew that i would end up enjoying it.
-the exciting parts were very exciting. the last hundred pages or so kept me engaged and i ended up not being able to put it down.
-i liked the characters with this one more, they all had interesting side stories and the characters were more diverse than i expected (Iranian girl and Asian girl).
-jeremy was my favorite character. very cute. love that kid.
THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE:
-the beginning was so incredibly slow. i wasn't necessarily bored, but i didn't find myself jumping to read it. i kind of just got to it when i got to it.
-as a result of being very slow in the beginning, it was kind of hard to understand. not to get too spoilery, but the whole plot of the book is that these girls plan a murder but don't carry it out, but then the person they plan to murder ends up being murdered the exact way that they planned. it was kind of confusing because we're told that they slip him an oxy and then he's found dead, which is how they plan it, so how do they know that they didn't actually kill him? it's not until way later that we find out that the oxy didn't kill him, cyanide did, which ended up also being part of the plan that they came up with. i don't know, it was just confusing.
-book ends on a complete cliffhanger. nothing is resolved, we get no answers. i did end up liking this book, but when i finished i didn't find myself dying to order the next book and solve everything. my immediate thought was, "i can just look it up to find out who actually did it." still undecided if i'll read the next one or just look it up...

Not too bad.
I really enjoyed the switching between the five girls and seeing the drama each of them goes through (even though 90% was boy drama, 5% friend drama and 5% murder drama) - not my favourite mix.
Overall, it was a nice, quick read. The ending was neat and the storyline was very well done. Waiting patiently for the second book :)

I was very unsure about this book. I thought it would be too similar to the pretty little liars series, which I am currently reading. I am very happy that I don't find the two series to be too similar. I was very entertained by this book and read it rather quickly. It was a great audible pick. I did knock off a few stars because there were many situations throughout this book that made me feel very uncomfortable. There are definitely some topics discussed in this book that were just uncomfortable to listen too. I'm not sure if that makes the author really amazing for writing it the way she did or if it was just me. I feel like a lot happened in this story and it was very fast paced. I am glad that this is only a duology and not another 10+ book series I have to commit to.
