I liked this book, but I think the other books in the series are more fun. However, I enjoyed it very much. In the end I would love to have a little bit more feeling between Mendenbar, Cimorene and Daystar. It was a bit too casually for me. But I enjoyed this series a lot.

AFTER FINISHING THOUGHTS
Actual rating like 3,4⭐ or something... I really enjoyed this series, I'm just sorry the plot turned out... how it turned out. RTC

Would love to write a review for this one but the truth is.... I don't remember it very well? I remember that I didn't care for the ending, but I'm not sure why.
A few details that I DO remember:
- Telemain
- It turns out that dragons in this world can choose their sex/gender! It's not really specified what it means in practice, but I love any inclusion of genderbending!

and Morwen become a couple in this one, which YEY! I'm do glad my radar isn't that off. Even though I am a bit angry that it happened in this installment and not in [b:Calling on Dragons|1060960|Calling on Dragons (Enchanted Forest Chronicles, #3)|Patricia C. Wrede|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1421358811l/1060960._SY75_.jpg|3178], I guess this is what happens if you are writing the books in a wrong order.- It turns out that dragons in this world can choose their sex/gender! Good ending to the series, though admittedly my least favorite book. I don't enjoy Daystar trying to figure out what the heck is happening the way I enjoy Cimorene looking at her 'fate' and saying No Thank You. Still a fun read, and others will probably enjoy it more than I did.

This book just fell flat after the previous three, imo. In the previous books, the main characters were primarily women--this book diverged from that and I think it ultimately suffered for it. Without Cimorene being at the forefront, it just wasn't as compelling for me.

So my main affection for this book honestly probably comes from Shiara. Not that Daystar isn't enjoyable, but he's kind of a bland hero bumbling through things, the everyman to give us a perspective into this wacky world rather than a realized character in his own right.
That said, this is still a fun conclusion (beginning, depending on your perspective) to one of my favorite book series as a child.

This was definitely a satisfying ending to the whole series. I appreciated the focus being switched to the next generation of characters, as I felt that another book with the same characters that I've already become too familiar with might've been more daunting than enjoyable. The veterans still make cameo appearances, of course, and I always love it when that happens. With that said, I do think that the protagonists in this generation were a bit weaker in personality, but Patricia did a good job of keeping their dispositions consistent instead of falling into the temptation of making them suddenly stronger characters in the middle of the book. Overall, I think this set was well worth the investment, even if it means that I lost some time studying.
