Timepiece continues (or anticipates) the story begun in The Christmas Box, telling the story of David and MaryAnne Parkin. It's a melancholy, bittersweet story for most of it, with a felt pall of sadness lying over it right from the beginning. Good ending, but fairly downbeat.

Timepiece by Richard Paul Evans
Enjoyed the author's other works. I also have a timepiece from my father and it's treasured for time I spent with him.
A great story to pass onto the next in the family line. Book before the Christmas Box in this series.
Parkins estate and all the things in there: journals, grandfather's clock etc. Story starts in 1908 and it follows Mary Ann and David through their life together. The timepiece has many meanings.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Prequel to The Christmas Box. Sweet love story. I read after having read The Christmas Box already but then did enjoy reading it again after reading The Timepiece. The Letter is also part of this Trilogy but I have not read it yet.

Wow! Thanks mom for making me cry...A LOT!
My favorite part = David Parkin on parenthood from Timepiece by Richard Paul Evans - "It would seem that my Andrea is growing so quickly, as if time were advancing at an unnatural pace. At times I wish it were within my power to reach forth my hand and stop the moment - but in this I err. To hold the note is to spoil the song" (131).

My Grandmother let me borrow this book. I wanted a better ending somehow.

From the blurb.

It is in the darkest skies that stars are best seen -- perhaps it is divine irony that within the darkest moments we are capable of revealing the greatest light, demonstrating what is best with humanity.

Book 2 of The Christmas Box is a historical fiction set in Utah. Told through a diary of David Parkins from the early 1900s through the Depression. This sad and happy holiday story is thought provoking with many life lessons sprinkle throughout. David's wife, MaryAnne ties into the first book of the collection. I love the historical aspect of the novel and the message of forgiveness.

I'll be be reading book 3, [b:The Letter|199796|The Letter (The Christmas Box, #3)|Richard Paul Evans|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1442704361l/199796._SX50_.jpg|2918712] sometime soon.

This was a nice story, but I didn't like it as much as I remember liking the first book in the trilogy.
