Would have given it 1 Star but I liked the idea and the characters were okay? Maybe?

DNF'd about half way through.

I just couldn't really connect with the characters because they didn't really seem to have any personalities. Outside of how the MC saw them. And I think that's because of the writing style. The dialogue didn't flow and I just couldn't get into the story because of it.

I was forcing myself to continue reading. I usually hate not finishing a book but I just couldn't do it.

Fun and witty adventure

This book sucked me in and I couldn't put it down! There was mystery, romance and a whole lot of snark! Dot the FMC is strong and confident, as well as snarky as hell. The combo is fun and enjoy her. I don't love the names of the characters, but it's not enough to make me out the book down.

Breath of Fresh Air

Paranormal books and get a bit redundant but this was a great mix of suspense, mystery and romance. I loved it.

This was an okay book.

In terms of RH, it was pretty typical, with the guys all loving the main character. I did like that the attitude was overall accepting though. The sex scenes were decent.

The general writing style was a little iffy, as it had places where it didn't flow well, or read woodenly. This was disappointing because it did have first person narration, which you'd think that would have helped with that. The editing could use some work, as aside from the choppy writing style, there were often grammatical errors.

The plot was centered around a murder mystery, with witches, and I've read tons of those. This was pretty typical, and didn't do anything new there either.

For a book of its size (around 200 pages) I can forgive the general lack of world building, although the magic was explained alright. However, I'd like more detail on the system of power within covens, witches around the world, and what other kinds of supernatural creatures there are. Fae, werewolves, and vampires were mentioned.

As for the main character, I like the presence of Josie, her best friend, and Candace. That was nice in an RH. However, I didn't feel like I got to know any of the characters, even the main one Dot, very well. Also, Dot seemed a little too perfect and goddess-like, which was kind of annoying.

I am curious about the whole rebirth of the coven thing, and what that means, and why it happened to Dot's coven. So I might read the next one, as these are short and kind of interesting, but there are also plenty of reasons to not. 2.5 - 3 stars.

Absolutely amazing book!

I have seen this book recommended in several reader's groups on Facebook and decided to give it a try. There were several times that my husband looked at me like I was crazy because I kept laughing. Dot and Josie remind me so much of my best friend and myself, down to the way they talk and everything. I loved that the action started quick both the real action and the sexy time action. I also liked the pace at which the story was written. Honestly I loved every part of this book and look forward to reading the next as soon as I finish this review! Excellent job!

3.5 rounded to 4 stars. Not bad for the first book of a series, but there was a bit of a struggle to capture my attention. I think it was predominantly based on the narrator, because i ended up switching from the audible version to the kindle 3/4 of the way through and will be reading the second book. The narrator was just plain boring, and I am glad she was switched to someone else for books 3 and beyond. Not a ton of spice, but what is there is definitely spicy.

What I liked:
I liked the humor of the main two, although found her killing of one man to open the story a little too lax. The humor is abundant, the dialogue works well, and there's always something going on to keep it interesting. It was hard to put down and kept me reading. I like the small town getting fixed - a woman wanting to open a bookstore and cafe, such fun with that. I loved the medical scene and the doctor.

What I didn't like:
The sex stuff. Too rushed and I didn't feel a connection between the main and the two men she's into. It seemed too quick. I also don't like the voyeur stuff and it started getting overdone. I ended up skimming most of that after all.

Overall - when the plot is going on, it's great, but the overdone "steam" that shouldn't exist yet and felt forced and cheesy was another story.

And I'm sorry, but I find it hard to believe she's a little over 100 years old and only had one serious boyfriend, while she started investing in stocks when she was a teenager and came from a town with a large population considering its size. That's unrealistic as hell and why have that in there when it doesn't make sense and shouldn't change anything about her past?

This book was fabulously hilarious and scorching hot! I don't know how this author does it, but she had me grinning from page one and regularly until the end. In between there was some panty melting scenes and generally an awesome story.

This I definitely one of my new favourite authors. Hurry up and one-click this medium burn giggle worthy book.
