The perfect pairing of words and pictures… I can *feel* the magical summer vibes through the pages of this book.

This was delightful. But who is it for? The 1970s energy from the typography to the art style is real. And the nostalgia is intense--like I wasn't even alive in the 1970s and I felt that. But again I keep coming back to who this is for because, in a lot of ways, the kind of childhood being described here is gone forever.

I love the way these illustrations, the palette, and even the typefaces call back to the era they're representing - Jackie and I are about the same age and consumed some of the same Scholastic book fair books. This book echoes with calls and shouts up and down the street.
