Entering my reviews over from my old Goodreads profile I unearthed recently...here are some super sappy thoughts from 2009-era 14-year-old Claire!

No great literature, but entertaining and fun.

Light and fluffy. Does not benefit the reader to over analyze or look for depth, but it's good for a diverting few hours.

This book is about Val who chooses to go with her father to an 'obscure European country'. There she meets the prince of said country, and you know what happens. I loved the beginning of the book, but towards the end, the climax, could have been a bit more detailed.

it was okay, I didn't like how it just ended like the it did. there was pretty much no plot towards it. pretty much, have to be in the mood for it. which...I'm not. :(

This book had a lot of potential but just fell flat.

I did not like Valerie for a majority of the book, up until the very end. She came across very judgmental towards her mom. Valerie had every right to be angry about the divorce, but some of the comments she makes about her mom and Gabrielle are awful.

As for the rest of the characters, the only two people I really liked were Valerie’s Dad (who has such a cool job btw) and Prince Georg. All the other characters were annoying, vain, or simply bad friends.

Like I said before, I feel like this book could have been really good, but the plot was executed well. For the first 50% of the book, Valerie is still in the United States. The book is supposed to be about her time in the small European country. There isn’t much that happens there. And that just made the ending and romance seem rushed, which should have been the focus.

Goodreads recommended this book to me, and considering it's over 10 years old, I probably wouldn't have picked it up on my own (mostly because I doubt I would have found it anywhere). It was cute, and interesting, but it definitely felt like it would appeal more to a younger teen than someone 16+. It also felt like only part of the story - the end wasn't much of an ending. And apparently it is a trilogy, so of course I'm going to have to search out the next book, because why wouldn't I?

I love this triology! probably because i had no idea it was going to be triology. I was completely hooked right from the start. Niki Burnham's writing is a delight to read

this is a cute and fun book for tweens. I really enjoyed reading this little romance when I was in high school. Gave me a little hope that i may meet my own prince charming someday. :)

I read this book when I was younger. I'm 18 now and it must be at least 3 years since I've read this book. I have to say I could NOT put this book down. The premise is very new for the age range who typically read these type of novels. It explores homosexuality and a prince--those two are not related haha. It was also witty and very funny. I strongly recommend this book! I always look back at it very fondly.

(I even recommended it to my 17 year old friend and she loved it :) )
