help! I've fallen in love with adriana herrera's writing and i can't get up!! This is now the third novel I've read from Herrera and i just cannot express how her characters and her stories make me happy!! Finding Joy was so full of joy (see what i did there) and love, and it truly was such a delight to read about Ethiopia. The country's beauty and culture shined through on every page and it was nice to read a romance NOT set in america or Britain. Plus, Desta and Ella's relationship was so heart-felt and lovely it made my heart all mushy and stuff.
This is a very low-conflict novel which I didn't have any issues with but I wouldn't go into this expecting some dramatic love affair. It's just a nice story of two men falling in love and figuring out how to make it work.

PS. There was a one sentence reference to Nesto but it made me shout at my book "OH! THERE HE IS!" so do with that what you will.

Elias did not come to play! 🥵🥵🥵 What a steamy and delightful queer 'holiday' romance!

I felt like I knew life as an aid worker, after reading about Desta's surveys.

Lovely, sweet and low angst romance, told from Desta's POV which works quite well, as he is the character who is re-discovering Ethiopia and we get the chance to do it alongside with him. As always with this author I finished the book hungry, looking for an Ethiopian restaurant that delivers and hoping they'll have injera fir the wat *laughs* Just in case, I've already found a recipe :P

Desta's is a little... self-absorbed and it's a good thing to see how, by the end, he had learn to not be it. I adore Elias and seeing them working their issues and their cultural differences in a country less than friendly to LGBT people was thrilling and delightful.

Braeden Sinclair's narration is truly wonderful.
