5/5 stars (in reality, it's more like 4/5. This is just sentimental and the end of a childhood favorite)

I'm giving this full stars because this was my entire childhood and now it's gone. TBH I'm not mad, 9 is a great number. And I didn't think this series would actually get an ending. Like ever.

the pacing of this book is also literally insane we jumped from so many different things to another... it's very clear that this was rushed but that's valid i would also be very tired.

SpoilerI CANNOT BELIEVE. RAVEN. IS NERO'S DAUGHTER. THIS IS FUCKING HILARIOUS I KNOW ALL THOSE NERO/RAVEN NATALYA SHIPPERS ARE CRYING AND EATING THEIR WORDS RN IM CRYING LMAO. however, i am mad that we didn't get any extra father-daughter fluff between them.

I do like the nice little happy ending. Leon back as human, rebuilding HIVE (can't believe they destroyed it), Nero and Raven uniting as family PLUS Nathaniel, etc. However, I get Otto's return but like... I feel like it would have been a bit more meaningful/moving if he stayed dead. lol. sorry.

This was a fantastic end to the H.I.V.E. series. I so wish Mark Walden had the success these books deserve, they should absolutely be adapted, but more than that they should be something recommended to kids and adults alike in the same breath as Artemis Fowl, Percy Jackson, and Anthony Lockwood.

I loved this series, I loved it is a kid, and I loved coming back to it as an adult and finding it just as fun, adventure filled, and consuming as I did before. Walden hits on exactly the right notes here. I think ending a series is always hard, and there's no point criticising that. The ending was good, it was solid, I maybe wish it ended with a little more sense re. the direction these characters were going to go in, but overall I loved it.

I sobbed at the end of this book. This was my fav middle school series and I can’t believe it’s over. The ending was so good but I wish we had more. This should honestly be made into a tv show

The book was a little rushed and hard to get into after a 9 year gap, as I didn’t want to read the series again though much older eyes that might not appreciate it as much. But it was fantastic to FINALLY get closure on this series that I’d loved so much when I was young.
