Outstanding book. This book will make you rethink nature and insects!
Really scary book about terrifying insects.
There's worms and beetles and creepy crawlies out there that will make your skin curl - literally.
Some of the chapters of this book were really hard to get through - see Brown Recluse Spider or Guinea Worm.
Highly recommended if you like nature, as some insects (Bombardier Beetle) are absolutely wonders of nature. This book makes you appreciate nature in a more-intimate and awe-inspiring view, albeit terrifying in the tactics of survival.

Incredible and fascinating read! I find bugs and their lives very interesting, although the zombie chapter was particularly hard to read and very uncomfortable!
Bugs are cool!

This book is a encyclopedia of insects that are destructive to plants, dangerous to people, bizarre, or just frightening. Stewart's ready combination of science, history, and folklore make each little vignette of a chapter entertaining and informative.
The illustrations for the insects are what takes this book a notch up in my opinion. I find them fun and more digestible than the physical and scientific descriptions.
If you are a hypochondriac, I strongly urge you to skip this one, or you will be imagining hosting strange parasites with every itch or skin prick.

Enjoyed this very much. Would have preferred fewer bugs, with more detail on each...but it's a good jumping off point!
