This was an excellent book! It was a proper fairytale, and all of the characters were endearing and exasperating and wonderful! I loved Abdullah, and Flower-in-the-Night was strong and amazing as well, although we didn't see her for most of the middle of the book. The plot and pacing of the story were great. It was fun to see Lettie, Sophie, and Howl again - I never guessed who they were! The writing style was one of my favorite parts of the book - it flowed really nicely, and the story was funny and magical and endearing. I would definitely read it again. 5 stars.

This is book 2 in the Howl's Moving Castle series.
It starts out with all new characters, and seemingly in a new land. Abdula is a young carpet salesman in the south, and one day he purchases a flying carpet. The first night he has the carpet it takes him to a castle garden where he meets the girl of his dreams. As Abdula and the girl plan to elope, she is kidnapped. Following the kidnapping ensues a mad cap comedy of errors adventure as Abdula attempts to rescue her.
As with Howl's Moving Castle, this a cosy little fantasy full of humor, and the most absurd characters including a jinni, angels, magic cats, and character cameos from the previous book.
I adored this book, and I will be rereading in the future.

Second time reading:
I feel like this is a full 4 star read now. I hate the fat-phobic descriptions of Abdullah's cousins, but other than that the story is very enjoyable!
First time reading:
Rating: 3,5 stars.
I wasn't sold at all in the beginning. It was only when this deviated from the well-known story of Aladdin that I started to like this. I did really enjoy it in the end, but it's so different from what I imagined lol!

Abdulla, carpet merchant, is sold a magic carpet which sets of a train of events resulting in him racing across the desert to rescue his one true love.
Bit of a miss for me!
I found the narrator's voices for all the characters kind of insensitive/insulting. Abdulla was a pretty boring character
