This was a very cute book. While it will not challenge you academically or push you as a reader it is a great story line and a refreshing reminder that even when the war was over… there was still a game of survival that needs to be had.
While I’m not usually one for “everything works out happily” I think they did it as nicely as they could here. It’s a great YA novel.

This is the story of a fictional circuitry in Europe before and during world war ii. Theo joins the circus right after the birth of Lena, his daughter. I mean his mother has died and Lena is pretty sexy. Wheelchair bound. Few is a magician and illusionist. He takes under his wings Alexandria who you know has a very shady past. Alexandra is a Jew and is hiding on the circus train. Lena and Alexandra road to like each other. Then one day Theo begins to plan to take Lena and Alex Andre and run away to America to avoid the Nazis. Then the circus owner finds out and Alexandre in. They are sent to a concentration camp. Lena believes they have died and is adopted by her former governess. She moves to England and gets a great education where she goes on to be a doctor. She is engaged and now walking when Alexandre reappears in her life. She goes and sees her father who tells her the truth that he actually isn't her biological father but rather her uncle. They become very accepting of each other and Alexandria and Lena live happily ever after. The hardest part of this book was that they villainized a Jew in concentration camp who turned in feel in Alexandria. That is a really tough situation that I could never begin to imagine how someone would act. Also if she's unclear to me as to why the pretended to be his sister's husband. It probably would have been easier just to say that his sister's husband had died.
