Clearly the best of the Ancient Greek tragedies, cause its story is by far the coolest.* After the Big Reveal, Oedipus gets quite epic, though actually just whining about his fate. That's some good writing.

* Currently Medea is #2 (I have still to read most of Euripides for the first time), cutting up her kid and exiting this motral coil across the sky in a chariot drawn by snakes. A hair in front of Agamemnon.

I read this three times in one week for school (as usual), and I must say that after the second go around, I grew to like this tragedy. Yeah, it's a classic, a timeless Greek tragedy and is really important and all of that stuff. Honestly, I'm just not a fan of most drama such as this. I can sit through Shakespeare and not get bored, and there are a few other plays, but the first read of this was just painful. At first, I hated it and thought it was strange. The general plot was depressing (it's a tragedy, duh) and the enforcement that I was reading this for school dampened my original opinions.

Of course, those reasons weren't quite enough to deter me from a second and third try, in which I truly grew to like the story and message. It is a brilliant piece, and I think the impact of the play is something I can keep with me for a long time. I give it four stars, because it took me a while to like it..
