There was a slow build.  Good twist though.

This book also wasn’t quite what I wanted it to be. I didn’t find Claire to be a very likable character. A lot of the time I felt a little impatient with her. I also didn’t understand the depth of the betrayal she felt when she learned certain facts about the group–I thought she wildly overreacted. This book definitely had some [b:Big Little Lies|33516773|Big Little Lies|Liane Moriarty|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1559835163l/33516773._SY75_.jpg|27570886] vibes to it almost where we have a group of moms and their secrets. I thought the prologue at the beginning of the book did a really great job of keeping the momentum going towards the end (again, similar to BLL). I thought the ending was a bit unexpected, but interesting and in retrospect, I can see the seeds that were planted along the way. Overall, I didn’t love the characters or the book as a whole, but I appreciated the frank depiction of what it’s like to be a new mother. I can testify that all those feelings about motherhood are real and accurate. 3/5

I got this book as a free giveaway from the local library summer reading club. It kept me interested the whole time, but it was about a bunch of playgroup moms. They hire a young girl as a musician for their children. There are mountains of chaos that come from each of their lives and secrets!

This was a banger of a debut. The writing was clever and clear. The world of rich mommy’s, which has been popular subject matter lately, stayed incredibly interesting through secrets, twists and turns that I did not see coming. The dialogue was incisive.

This author is an auto-buy for me now.
