Pretty interesting story about a lost world in Brazil. Jurassic park was based off of it

An enjoyable and funny adventure. Lots of anthropocentrism and racial superiority, which is always weird for the contemporary reader, but with a tone that at times seemed a bit satirical. Was ACD perhaps a bit ahead of his times? More research necessary.

I recommend reading something else.
This is certainly a product of its time. However, if it were possible to separate the impact of some of that, it still isn't a good book. It is engaging enough but is primarily concerned with an adventure trip, in which, multiple peoples are destroyed in the name of science. I don't know if science was actually performed in such a way 120 years ago. I suspect the current perspectives of conservation are strikingly different than 100 years ago. To be honest, the issues of conservation were FAR from the most striking parts of it being a product of its time. With all that in mind, while it was a book I was able to finish, it is not a book I can recommend.

Something different
That is something different than usual books by Arthur Conan Doyle with main characters that are very well known for us. This one is an adventure that took me to another place like another world. I enjoyed reading it throughout the story
