Gorgeously illustrated, with a strong central character and mystery that does not disappoint, Thor shines through at a time when quite a lot of superhero comics are content with just being "okay" reads. One of the times when what could have been a gimmick is turned into an incredibly strong story. I love the new Thor so much, and like the old Thor in his new role, that I really hope Marvel doesn't go back to the status quo any time soon.

Thor 1
I think it's a promising beginning for a new God(dess) of thunder. I must read the next issue NOW!

Thor 2
In the second issue we have some ass kicked by the new goddess of thunder, who went to Midgard to save it from the giants. We still have many questions to answer. Quite cool! :)

Thor 3
We continue on a cliffhanger of action and danger while we discover some other secrets, as what Roxxon has, but still we have plenty of things going on to keep on reading and trying to solve the mysteries. I'm loving this series :)

Thor 4
This issue was AMAZING!!! Here we have a he-Thor vs she-Thor with Odison full of rage and our goddess trying to make him calm, because they still had a problem with Malekith. Odison... bad boy :P And well, we still have quite some things going on for the next comic so... It's great :D

Thor 5
In this issue we have more of that Thor-cannot-be-a-woman shit but thank the Goddess that she kick they well. Odin has become obsessed to know who she is, so that will be explored in next issues. I love Freyja more in each issue :)

My daughter was about 3 months old when Marvel announced they were writing a female Thor, and I couldn’t have been happier to hear it. It’s exactly the type of world I hope she grows up in, one where gender/race/religion have nothing to do with your ‘worthiness’...and while that world might still be coming even when she’s grown up, this is a tiny step in the right direction. So you can imagine my delight when I finally got to read it, and it lives up to every ounce of the hype I’ve inflicted upon it.

Thor Odinson has some become unworthy, and Thor, Goddess of Thunder steps in to wield Mjolnir so the name can live on. The story so far has mystery, some comedy, lots of intense action, and does a fantastic job of impresses us with how power our new Goddess really is, as she does things with the Mighty Hammer Odinson never thought of. The writing is fantastic, the art is a step above, and I can’t imagine better pacing. And I’m considering a comic subscription for the first time in 20 years, it’s so good.

If you like Asgard, Marvel, Thor, or anything remotely cool, you need to read this comic.

I actually really liked this. Might have liked it even more if I hadn't already known who she was. Or not. This is also like, my first ever Thor.

My rating: 3.5 stars

I grew up with the tales of Oden, Loke, Tor, Freja and all the other nordic gods. I have loved them very dearly and rarely hesitate to dive back into the mythology of my county.

I am also a salty little thing, that doesn't enjoy when creators take too much liberty with changing old tales about gods and mythical creatures. I sneer at the thought that the Hulk would be stronger than any god - so imagine my surprise when I still loved this graphic novel that completely re-imagines Thor and everything that god is.

Because here we are introduced to a female Thor; a god made thunder because they were chosen by the poweful and magical hammer Mjölnir. A Thor that will definitely kick your ass.

I must admit that I still had some difficulties adapting to all this newness - but even from the beginning I very much liked the idea of it. And the fact that we were completely bamboozled and I still have no idea who this female Thor might be had me very intrigued.

The art was also supergood, and even though they did that awful thing where they changed artists, it wasn't too noticeable and still very well done. I liked the dialogue - especially our new Thor's thoughts - and flew through this comic in a matter of less than half an hour.

So basically my feminist ass is cackling over this.

One of the best comics I've read in a long time. I can't wait to see where it goes from here.
