This was a cute little delight. A good weekend read. Beginning was a bit slow.

Laura travels to the Channel Islands where her parents met to create a story for her job. Her cab driver from the airport is a grumpy older man with a wild beard. At the hotel, she discovers she has the wrong luggage. This luggage belongs to the man of her dreams, they both love Phil Collins, the book To Kill a Mockingbird and clothing he packed she associates with a well dressed man. Now she just has to meet him and they will have the best meet cute story. While she waits for the luggage owner to contact her to swap luggage, the surly cab driver takes her around the island for her story. As she gets to know him better, she finds herself rethinking what her dream romance is. This was a fun romance and I liked learning about Jersey Island in the British Channel. All the locals were endearing and the true story of Laura's parents has her reconsider her future.

Well”—Monica sighs—“maybe life’s more about carving out happy chapters than finding a single happy ending.”

This lovely rom-com by Sophie Cousens, author of a book I loved last Christmas (This Time Next Year), was precisely what I needed on this wintery stay-home day.

The story follows protagonist Laura on her request to find true love while working as a journalist resigned to telling other people’s “meet-cutes.” And, in true hopeless romantic form, she tends to imagine these meet-cutes in every interaction she has… other than maybe in the one that matters most.

The characters sprang off the page and were utterly lovable. Woven within the love stories are tales of loss, friendship, and redemption. Laura’s work is fairly thankless, and I found myself rooting all the way through the job for a new boss or a new job for her.

Ted; well, he’s my favorite. Enough said - for now.

This book was better than most rom-coms, and you know I love me this type of story, period. It had all the feel-good elements, anguish, and a little romance to keep it enjoyable.

Sophie Cousens is quickly becoming a favorite author for me. I can’t wait to see what she writes next! If you’re not feeling “holidayish” in your reading yet, pick this one up - it has all the good vibes and warm storyline to still keep you in a happy place this season.

This book was so GOOD. A fun rom-drama-com adventure read. That’s all I have to say. Will probably read again. Also it was very easy to fall along with

Predictable but thoroughly enjoyable! Would love to see a movie adaptation as I'm still thinking about this book months later and think it's perfect for the screen.

The book was very cute and read like a rom-com movie! However I did find it very predictable and it seemed from the first few chapters I knew who the main character would end up with. There was a twist at the end that I didn’t see coming that I found interesting and enjoyed. I did like how there was a little bit of a mystery aspect in the romance book however I didn’t like how the mystery turned out (however I do see why it ended that way as it tied into the ending of the book and moral of the story). Throughout the book I found the characters and their stories really enjoyable to read about and thought they were very relatable. Overall I enjoyed the book and found it a fast read however it wasn’t one I felt like i needed in my own personal library.

Rounded up to ⭐⭐⭐

It's a cute book. The main character, Laura, is a bit over the top at times with the situations she gets herself into. The story has its sweet moments and good "words of wisdom".
