This was just as enjoyable and well written as book two of the Dark is Rising sequence. I liked that the author brought together the characters from the first two books as it added some interesting interactions. Without a doubt it would be better to have read books one and two before reading this third installment.

This is just a fun quick read in the series.

I appreciate the strong female protagonists in the series, especially this book.

Better than book 2, but still on the low end of three stars for me. It has more believable challenges for the characters than 'the Dark is Rising,' in the form of creepy gypsies and potentially horrifying wicker effigies. I still can not understand the widespread affection for this series.
