I really connected with this book. I read a few one and two star reviews, and I couldn’t understand why people would rate it so low. Many thought it was “boring” and they “didn’t connect to the characters”. I felt the complete opposite. Jones’ wove an incredible tale of what can happen for blacks in America. I truly connected with each character and their anger, their wants, their needs, and their decisions. I like to read all different kinds of books, but it’s fictional stories like An American Marriage that make me feel less alone in my decision-making. Even though fiction isn’t real, it’s often inspired by some sort of truth. The “truth” of this story resonated with me, and it will with anyone who is black and living in America. #teamandre
