I think this was a wonderful patchwork collection of Neil Gaiman’s writing. I really enjoy his style, though I’ve also learned that his poetry isn’t for me. The introduction provides context for each short story and I LOVED it. There’s something really cool about learning more about the inspiration or reason something was written.
Favorites: The Thing About Cassandra, The Truth is a Cave in the Black Mountains, A Calendar of Tales, The Case of Death and Honey, Nothing O’Clock, The Sleeper and the Spindle, Black Dog.

The stories were rather hit-and-miss throughout, with some standout hits (Cassandra, Jerusalem, "And Weep Like Alexander," Nothing O'Clock, and Black Dog) and some that really didn't work for me (virtually all of the poems, Orange, Ray Bradbury, and The Return of the Thin White Duke).
Making a Chair - 2/5
A Lunar Labyrinth - 2.5/5 (I thought this one would have been cooler but Gaiman does this kind of story better other places in the collection)
The Thing About Cassandra - 5/5
Down to a Sunless Sea - 3/5 (I also really wanted this one to do more)
"The Truth is a Cave in the Black Mountains..." - 4.5/5
My Last Landlady - 3.5/5 (This one could have been more engaging with a bit more to build it up)
Adventure Story - 3.5/5
Orange - 2/5 (Yeah this was super weird)
A Calendar of Tales - 3/5
The Case of Death and Honey - 4/5
The Man Who Forgot Ray Bradbury - 2/5
Jerusalem - 5/5
Click-Clack the Rattlebag - 5/5
An Invocation of Incuriosity - 3/5 (Strong Dune vibes from this one)
"And Weep, Like Alexander" - 5/5
Nothing O'Clock - 4.5/5
Diamonds and Pearls: A Fairy Tale - 3/5 (Definitely weird, very much in the tradition of Grimm)
The Return of the Thin White Duke - 1/5 (This one felt horribly overwritten)
Feminine Endings - 3.5/5 (Genuinely spooky )
Observing the Formalities - 3/5
The Sleeper and the Spindle - 4/5
Witch Work - 2/5
In Relig Odhrain - 1,5/5
Black Dog - 5/5 (This makes me think I would have enjoyed American Gods best as a short story collection because this really worked for me - check the content warnings though)
