Wes couldn’t help it. He fell for Mack a little bit, right then and there.

3.5 stars. A pretty cute cowboy-ish romance! Wes is a small-time actor, and Mack works as a hand on his grandfather's dude ranch. Flirtation turns to hooking up when Wes visits the ranch with his friends, and a romance develops from there. It was hot and there was a lot of well-written attraction and chemistry, even though some of it was the teeeeensiest bit cringey. We get introduced to a lot of secondary characters who are obviously going to get their own books, and the foreshadowing for said future books was honestly a bit clumsy at times. Kinda made me wish we concentrated a little bit more on fully Mack and Wes. But it was a fun time. I don't mean to make it sound like their relationship didn't get development, because it did. I really appreciated how things turned out in the last third. The conflict that you think is coming ends up not being a huge deal, and the ending got action-y and almost a little romantic suspense-y? And I appreciated that it was just different than what I expected. I've read from this author before and didn't super love those books, so I'm pleasantly surprised to have liked this, even if I didn't love it. It just fell a little flat in places I expected it to pick up.

Listened to the audiobook as read by Greg Boudreaux, who's super talented and does a good cowboy drawl (imo, anyway). I miiiiight continue the series? I do wanna see Miles and Reyes and their romance.

*I got this book as an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

I have to be honest, I wasn't expecting to read this book and be charmed. Cowboys are not typically my thing when it comes to romance novels, but boy howdy this one was.
The positives: I really enjoyed the chemistry between Wes and Mack. I also really enjoyed the fact that we got to see their relationship after the get-together. Too often we have stories that end when the couple gets together. I want to see more than just the fluttery feelings and the sex. I want to see them struggle and succeed in trying to push their two lives into one.
The negatives: Communication between the characters. I get that it's a major plot point for one platonic relationship, but between the lovers? I'd have loved to see them open up more and/or sooner. Especially after they got together. I also wish that Wes and his sister could have interacted more. I know it's not their story, but I feel like every other relationship was fleshed out but theirs. Wes barely had any interaction with Sophie after leaving the ranch, and I felt like it was glaring. They're so close, but he doesn't talk to her about the new relationship?
All in all, it was really cute romance and a really quick read. I may or may not have pulled out my kindle while I was at work.

I was in love with this story from the very beginning. I loved the sexual tension between Wes and Mack. There were many funny moments. But the story doesn't end with them getting together. Their road is bumpy and comes with baggage. The ghost town, their histories, the ranch. It all makes for a compelling story! Then you add in all the secondary characters and this series is sure to be a must-read for me! I need to know what happens next!!!

Audiobook — This book was way better than I expected. Mack and Wes make a good couple and the plot twisty in a way that made since, and not over done. Listening to this one was amazing!

Wild Trail felt a bit never ending. While I enjoyed the romance between Mack and Wes, and the ranch setting was fun, it was just too drawn out. I was slowly losing interest and it put a damper on the aspects of the story I enjoyed.
