This book was......ok but the end.............. I really did not like the way it ended an I understand that it is a novella so things aren't typically very flushed out. HOWEVER, I hated the way it left off and I probably won't be reading the second book (I might) because I think she could have just merged them instead of making them two separate book which are both only a hundred something pages each. The smut scene was also not good in my opinion because even though yes she did like it (kinda) the way they he was saying things as if he wasn't really self aware take zade for example in haunting Adeline he was at least aware enough to know what he was doing was wrong (though it never stopped him). All of this to say I think she should have just made this book longer because I don't like when authors decided to split up a story when it easily could have been one book.(also something i'm not very fond of that most dark romances have are scenes that are RAPE but they call then CNC. This is actually in a lot of dark romances so it not something I harp on a lot but I thought I would include it in this cause i'm going to go back and put this in my other reviews for dark romances.)

Well I guess I know now why that’s the title.

Let me start by saying ist like 10% smut not even to be honest and the rest of it is just stalking.

I had to google the type of piercing he had and boooy I think that hurt.

It’s not what I thought it would be. The last two dark romance novellas I read had way more smut and one of them had even a bit of interesting plot. In “carving for Cara” on the other hand both fell flat. Like I said there was like two real spicy scenes and the plot only consisted of stalking.
I now know I’m not the biggest fan of stalking and the delusions of the stalker that it brings with it. I would go as far and title the spicy rape. In her pov you get to know that she kind of likes it but she is also conflicted about it. And that’s again not my thing. Non consensual consent with a safe word is fine but that’s not part of this story so again it is just rape and I don’t like that.
For the other part I’m not against a little murder of a douchebag but I would really like to know if Cara likes her “gift” or if she is only mortified. But I guess we’ll never know

And btw one last question how is it possible to be a CIA Agent (I guess) murder people for fun (again I guess) get obsessed with som random girl after seeing her once then murdering “for her” (or for himself) forgetting your vendetta/revenge you have planned for idk how many years and not be caught for the murders you committed. (Even tho you left evidence in form of a jack’o lantern human head on the porch of said girl you have an obsession with)

Please check trigger warnings. It contains R#PE, its not CNC. There's a big difference.

I'm not sure what it was I didn't love, theoretically it has all of my favourite things to read in an erotica but it just didn't land.

Also noting, this isn't a dark romance, maybe erotica.

That was a dark and wild ride. This was a novella so there wasn’t as much character development as I normally like, but I felt like the characters were reasonably fleshed out for the shorter length.

I was actually pleased with the plot of the story. It wasn’t elaborate, but again felt reasonable and appropriate for being a novella and being a dark romance with a focus on more graphic sex scenes.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed. I would definitely read this again.

Uhm, not the book for me. It wasn't really the content, but the writing. I'm a little intrigued to keep going and read the full length, but not sure.

And there was a certain scene that left me a little speechless and slightly traumatized. Yet again just not for me.

I am not a fan of dark romance and maybe it affected my opinion, but honestly? Not much. The writing was painful to read. Contradictions within one paragraph (how are her stockings BOTH opaque and see-through?), inconsequential elements given way too much attention for a novella, “not like other girls” trope (mentioned about ten times at least), MMC weirdly mentions his huge pierced dick so many times I stopped counting, etc. I kind of liked how she stayed in the concept of Halloween (using corn as a dildo, pumpkin vines as restraints, etc.) and there was a pretty good amount of description, enough that you know where you are and what’s going on, but not so much that you get bored and get out of the flow of the story.
