A very sweet and heartwarming read. If you've loved an animal you will understand this book. It lost me for a while when the magic realism kicked in. The voice was lovely, especially in the first two-thirds.

I am not a dog person, and I loathed "The Art of Racing in the Rain", but this was a wonderful book. Sweet, funny, unexpected. Get ready to weep.

I really wanted to like Lily and the Octopus, and I was liking it until I got to the bizarre Fishful Thinking section. After skimming those pages and finishing the rest of the book, I thought it was okay at best.

I loved the quirky main character AND!THE!DOG! (you have to read the book). I let fall much salty water (from the book), but is such a strange and oddly wonderful book by my standards. I did give it 5 stars for its creativity, storytelling, characters and heart.
