This is an engaging book about an investigator with the appealing name of Sunday Night. While I prefer Kathy Reichs' Temperance Brennan series, this book certainly kept me turning the pages. Thanks to Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine Bantam and NetGally for the ARC.

I got this from Random House UK via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was hoping for something a bit different from Kathy's new series. And in places, I got it, but other than not cutting up bodies, Sunny and Tempe came across too similar to me. I'm also enjoying her relatively terse writing style less than I used to, but the plot was still good enough to keep me involved.

An interesting read. This standalone book is somewhat different than the author’s Temperance Brennan series. The main character in this novel is severely flawed, and we learn her backstory throughout the book.

I am not a fan of the Temperance Brennan series but I was intrigued by the description of this stand-alone novel. Sunday Night (know as Sunnie to her few friends) is a former cop living a reclusive life on a small island in South Carolina. Her mentor arranges her to meet a wealthy woman who seeks to find the bombers who killed her daughter and grandson and possibly kidnapped her grand daughter. What ensues is an action packed trek to Chicago, Los Angeles and other locales, and James Bondian escapes as Sunnie discovers a secret cult planning a major event. Sunnie is an interesting character and I will be surprised if she doesn't have another story to tell.

I thank NetGalley, Random House Publishing, and the author for an ARC of Two Nights.

This was a strange one. It was unrealistic in some ways and the plot seemed to just flow along randomly, but I enjoyed the main character so much I still really liked the book.

Sunday is rather unemotional, set in her ways, a loner who doesn't trust more than maybe two people and she is very matter of fact. So even though the story itself didn't blow me away the character made up for it and I will definitely buy any other book with her in it!

Very good read, enjoyed references to the Kentucky Derby. Sure miss Temperance Brennan though.
