Honestly the best part about this was the brothers barging in. Anthony is great.

I like that this book didn't totally tunnel vision on E&P, there was Marina, there were the kids, the fever. But I think Sir P is a self-centered ass, although one who loves his children.

I would have liked Eloise to be more interesting. We learned more about her on other books than in this one. I felt like less than half of this book written from her perspective.

This was a sort of weird one where I enjoyed the first 2/3 immensely, especially the Bridgerton sibling interaction and the last 1/3 substantially less because it seemed super contrived. Like no way the children are just suddenly perfect.

Phillip reminded me too much of my ex. That gave me the ick. He didn’t appreciate the girl boss that is Eloise Bridgerton. I got tired of hearing “he just wanted a mother for his children”.

“Her true wealth lay in her wisdom and her love”

2.5 stars. The quotes in this book are truly what romance is made of. I love them and wrote quite a few down, but I wasn't overly satisfied with this book. I'm very familiar with the Bridgerton show series and I love Eloise. I don't find her annoying at all and think she deserves better. Phillip is not all that. Not a terrible man, but it was so pathetic leading up to the marriage. All this is happening in the midst of Penelope's book and in comparison between the two, Penelope's story was a much better time to me. The constant "my children need a mother" was so unromantic. Idk how Eloise didn't run out the door. Oh yes, I forgot, she didn't want to admit defeat, which makes it even worse. Out of all the male leads I've seen on the show so far, Phillip is the worse in his book form. The writer's for the show are gonna have to do an overhaul on his personality and goals because he seems so misogynistic. The way he talks about his previous wife was not written well. I see why people call the books problematic because not once did they consider why she was so depressed. It was very self-centered of them. I understand there are frustrations dealing with someone who has emotions that differ from yours. They made her seem like she was the problem without addressing what could have been going on in her life from her perspective. But we'll never know that point of view! I hope the show gives Marina something instead of making her seem like a ghost. Lastly, I read the book that contained a second epilogue and I thought the epilogue was cute. I enjoyed that portion of the book the most.

another good addition to the series. eloise is a very interesting character in the books (the show having taken quite a departure) and i enjoyed seeing how she was willing to run away from home essentially in order to meet phillip.

it's also sweet that they end up settled so close to benedict and sophie for a bit of companionship.

eloise's relationship with her newfound children is lovely to see developing (and to see philip healing from his past and reacquainting himself with them is great too). i love how they recover from the issues of their early marriage and learn to spent time as a family, philip gradually becoming less of a recluse.

the scene where the bridgerton brothers arrive to beat up philip is brilliant. nice to finally see gregory as well now that he's no longer at eton !

she loved him. it was that simple. she loved him, and he loved her, and if there was anything more, anything else important in her world, it just didn't matter. not right there, not right then.
