Phew. I must admit that it was painful to read. I even decided to skim it what I never do, not even in my classes. I think it was useless to make a summary as detailed. On the other hand, I enjoyed the little story at the end. I'm going to buy the whole series except this book which seems totally useless in my opinion, but hey I had no other choice to read it since I put it in a challenge.

Ouff.

I usually rate books for manga series I enjoy a solid 5/5, but this one gets docked for repetition. A lot of the book is just summary of the main series, which is fine, as it's been a minute since I've read or watched it, but still, they're clearly just making money off of us for the same old content. But there's also interesting new stuff! I particularly enjoyed the interview between Ohba and Obata, and some parts of the series were made a bit clearer to me. It's definitely not a must-read for casual fans, but, since I'm never a casual fan, it was pretty great for me.

This book isn't very interesting, but if you're a big death note fan then go for it.

The four-panel comics were pretty great though 😹

This isn’t really “volume 13,” the main story is over so this is more of an informative encyclopedia with character recaps, plot summaries, flow charts, and collections of information about the shinigami and the Death Notes. I liked the extra chapter with Near and a new C-Kira, but I had already read it since it’s also included in the “Short Stories” book. Still, this is a nice addition to readers who probably feel empty after finishing the manga (me right now) and want more Death Note material.

This was a pretty cool addition to the Death Note experience. Other than some character profiles, a timeline, and other tidbits that just go over things that a reader would most likely know, we also get some really interesting interviews with the creators, funny little four panel comics, the pilot chapter that started it all, and even a silly quiz to see which character you're most like. I really enjoyed this, and I think any fan of the series will as well. (You also learn L's true name!!!)
