This book was absolutely amazing! I read it in one day, although I know Goodreads says I started it in October. Let's just say I read the first page in October but wasn't in the mood for this genre. So I put it down. AND I REGRET IT.

This story had me on the edge of my seat. I loved the way it was written : it felt fast-paced and action packed but slow at the same time. I say fast-paced because something is always happening. The plot was so thrilling. But it felt slow at the same time, because that is how you get to know the characters: slowly. And I felt like that was such a unique style: a fast and twisting plot but a slow character buildup. It was both refreshing and highly enjoyable. You get really easily attached to the characters this way.

I truly enjoyed this story and will definitely pick up the next one!

Mukavaa luettavaa!

I was impressed with this book actually. The pitch didn't sound too interesting so I wasn't expecting much.

The writing is really fluid and being a technological book, it didn't leave me in confusion like most techno books do. (I love being able to follow.)

The characters were good. Not awesome, but much better than what most YA authors are creating. And I liked the protagonist, which is a big thing.

I felt like the setting needed a bit more work. I wasn't quite sure where everything was, and at first I thought it was a dystopian story or something.

The plot isn't too terribly intricate but intriguing all the same. The pacing was good, never a dull moment, and it didn't seem like there was a bunch of unnecessary things.

This is generally not my type of book, but I liked the techie aspects of it and the writing was great. It drew me in right away.

Book #94 Read in 2013
Don't Turn Around by Michelle Gagnon (YA)

This is the first book of a series. Noa wakes up in a warehouse and it seems as if someone had operated on her. She escapes and uses her computer hacking skills to try to disappear. That seems to be easier said than done. She hooks us with Peter, another computer hacker, who is having issues with the same men/organization that experimented on Noa. Can the two save other kids in time from these medical experiments?

This book was a must read. It had tons of action and suspense. Noa and Peter were interesting, complex characters. This book will keep readers engaged from start to finish. I recommend it.

Ehn.

Definitely was not a YA Girl with A Dragon Tattoo. Sure, there are superficial resemblances, but the driving sense of tension and mystery that is Larsson's hallmark is missing. Favourite part was Rita Dove's poem "Persephone, Falling" in the epigraph. That was a great, evocative poem.

The book is obviously a thriller. A girl waking up in the middle of nowhere with no memory whatsover of what happened is intriguing.

For me, the story was entertaining and upbeat. I never felt bored nor did I felt the story ever reached a dead end. There was never room to think of what was going to happen next cause it instantly did. Event after event.
I liked the omnipresent narration allowing you to know what almost every character was feeling and thinking.

The "love" story wasn't necessary. It never developed enough to become one, more so a friendship than romance in my opinion so the "I wanted to kiss him" feeling was out of place for me.

It was overall entertaining but not my personal favorite genre of book.

I give it a 7/10
