I took my good friend The Bookworm home to Cheshire last week, and while we were there I asked to him to have a nibble at one of my favourite children’s books, Peter Pan, and pick out some particularly interesting passages

My favorite book. The voice is so unique and refreshing, it immerses you so deeply into the story. By the end of the book, the characters, despite relatively little character-building, seem like old friends. The setting between dream and reality allows for both truth and magic.

(A-) 83% - Cleaning is Hard

Synopsis: An immortal magical child who owns an ENTIRE island, flies days (weeks?) to procure free maid service from unsuspecting children. However, when tragedy strikes (said children grow up) and all looks lost, our hero manages to strike a deal to procure free maid service from the entire bloodline, therefore allowing the trusty male protagonist to defer cleaning indefinitely and do other manly things.

For a 100-year-old book, this did not age too bad and added some elements I wasn't familiar with from mainstream television/movies.

Definitely a book that shows that it was written in a different time with more than enough problematic things that one could point at.
On one hand there are so many things that felt weird to me as an adult (like Wendy assuming a mother role even though she is a kid) and Peter's character being just... creepy, but on the other hand it was short enough that it didn't get boring.

Everyone has their wendy experience. The day when they must leave the nursery and become an adult. This delightful story will bring out the pan in you.

I did not realize how ... creepy or stereotypical this book was until I reread it. A boy comes in through the window and lures kids out. Not only that but he is narcissistic and makes them play pretend with food. AND he lured Wendy out by saying she can cook, clean, and tuck them in and be their “mother”
