This was a witchy retelling of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, so I thought I was going to like this a lot more than I did. However, it just felt very “meh” to me.

As far as witch vs. witch hunter romances go, I’ve read better. (Serpent and Dove comes to mind) I wanted a bit more tension / emphasis on the “enemies” aspect of the enemies to lovers dynamic. I felt that Savvy and Griffin forgave each other way too fast after they realized they’ve been lying to each other about their entire lives.

I did enjoy the spy aspect, though. I would love to read more witchy spy novels in the future.

Romance, Mystery and Magic is blended together to make this one a fantastic read!

I loved the movie Mr and Mrs Smith, this book has the same vibe however it’s a bit more enchanting and doesn’t get quite as bloody.

Find your HEA in this magical mystery!

This is still cute the second time around, but I prefer the digital copy to this audiobook.

It took me a while to get into this and I occasionally found myself zoning out on the narration. It was okay.... but maybe I've just OD'd on witchy rom-coms?

Overall enjoyed this book. Although it felt at times that the tone of that particular moment didn’t really go well with the story. Appreciated the main character being taller than average!

3.5 - 4 this was such a cute vibe. I don’t usually love dual time line books but I like that this was just little snippet moments of the characters falling in love in the past. I really liked the vibes, very similar to the Kiss Curse or the Ex Hex. Not many books that start with a wedding gone wrong but that still leave you loving the characters. Genuinely wondering what the characters would have done if the secrets weren’t revealed at the beginning lol

I had trouble getting into this one, though the premise sounded right up my alley. Clever outwitting a la the film Mr. & Mrs. Smith, adding magic? Sign me up!

And there isn't anything wrong with Glenda Bond's writing. After thought, I'd blame the editor here, because the story really ought to have started with their meeting, instead of with the wedding, which went far too fast before we knew any of the players. Then the story jolts to a stop every chapter or so for a long flashback. And we get way, way more hotcha than clever outwitting or at least for me.

I think I would have fallen right in if the story had been linear. But other readers might totally disagree. All the other elements are lots of fun. And I'll definitely read more by this author.
