This boom has me convinced that if everyone had 2 good trips a year, we’d solve all the worlds problems. :)

Well dang! I actually hadn't read the subtitle for this book before checking it out of the library and starting it. I didn't know what I was in for, and certainly not how DANG IMPRESSED I would be. Psilocybins and/or LSD for almost everyone! Because, Science.

An experimental (he experiments on himself) and instructional manual about exploring entheogenic substances for mental well-being, especially, for those who are in the latter part of their lives. This is no Electric Kool-Aid Test! Michael writes carefully and thoughtfully about the potential medicinal uses of various entheogens, while detailing the rocky history and relationship of these substances and the American medical association.

This was FASCINATING. A book for book club that I never would have picked up on my own, but I found it so interesting. I don’t know that I’d ever partake in a psychedelic experience, but this had me all kinds of curious about where the research could go. The history was interesting, stuff I never knew. The neuroscience was so intriguing (I’m such a brain nerd 🧠🤓) Looking forward to chatting about it with the group!

Lost a half star for occasional repetitiveness that didn’t seem necessary, especially in the historical sections.

An excellent, fascinating read. Some chapters are a bit long winded, but the depth of research, personal experiences, and the very dense final chapter make this a very worthwhile topic for anyone interested in psychedelics, psychology, spirituality, or the mind.
