I thoroughly enjoyed this one. The amnesia plot and the alpha male MMC kind of gave me made for TV vibes, but in a good way? I really liked the FMC as well, she was a 'warm' character. Romantic suspense with a great external plot, the story did not linger. Audiobook was pretty good. I will be having look at Linda Howard’s backlist!

As with the other books in this series, it was kind of dated in a 1980s way: a woman with a high-powered job who gets screwed over by the old boys' network, lots of stuff that would be sexual assault now, a real heavy focus on describing lust as primitive urges.... Anyway, while it felt a bit odd at points, it was still a good read.

Hospital vigil. Mistaken identity. Amnesia. Love at first vibe. Colorado camp out. Spies.

An easy read, a simple story, with good writing. Perfect for a long hall flight, or on holidays.

Recommended: To those who enjoy reading well written books, that aren't challenging; those who like army, secret service type of heros.

Cover: 3 Stars (Golden Embossed titles and author's name - No thank you!)

Older book, but still good. Really enjoy the author, great characters. This one wished the wife had spoken up earlier, but good storyline

Series note: This is the final book in Howard's Rescues series focusing on a group of covert operatives. That said, there is no ongoing story arc, and the books can all be read as standalones (book #3 is actually only loosely related).

Unlike the first three installments, which are solid romantic suspense, this one is more contemporary romance with the action taking place off-page. That said, the format works in this case as the romance is the focus, and the connection between the hero and heroine is intense both emotionally and physically from the moment they come in contact.

While the basic premise requires some suspension of disbelief,
SpoilerJay easily puts aside her reservations regarding the injured man's identity and accepts that he is her ex, and the hero too readily accepts the name given to him even though it is obviously incompatible with his skill set
, it is, nonetheless, entertaining and the amnesia trope works well.

Both the hero and heroine are likable characters, and Howard manages to just squeak by with the annoying keeping secrets trope as the heroine's reasoning is quite plausible given the circumstances.

Overall, this has been a very enjoyable series and I will continue with my read of Howard's backlist.

I was surprised how much I liked this book. It was definitely the best of the 4 "Sabin" books. The way they developed their relationship was so sweet.
