The Vampire Chronicles is an absolute classic, and how I waited until 2020 to read it is beyond me! While I loved all the stories I feel the true shining light is Interview with a Vampire - it’s one of the books that can really stand and build on its own while still captivating an audience in an amazing and unique way.

Interview with a vampire: I saw the movie first and had not heard of the book before reading this one, but when my friend brought this up to me I was so excited to pick it up as I always prefer books over movies. Beautifully written and well constructed, keeping the dialogue in place and really feel like you’re listening in on a private dialogue vs. reading a book.

The Vampire Lestat: The sequel, I loved the characters in this one coming from the first book, with all new material and new characters. Lestat is super charming in this one. The addition of unrelated poetry by Anne Rice’s husband feels super off putting and unnecessary while also taking me out of the story. The writing tends to be a little overdetailed in this one.

Queen of the Damned: This is where everything shines - the only reason this one is not my favorite is because I do feel it is necessary to read the other two stories prior to reading this one. Gathering different POVs in this one makes it a unique experience and the additional character’s unique POVs tend to draw me in more than Lestat.

Ah, these books. IWTV used to be my favorite, but now I feel it's TVL.

Honestly, one of the best vampire novels I've read in a long time. It's about time I read it to be honest.

Anne Rice does a great job at making us feel for even the proverbial "bad guys" in the book. I found myself enjoying the character of Armand the most.

Although, I didn't enjoy the awkward "romantic" scenes between Louis and vampire-child Claudia.

And I enjoyed reading Lestat's narrations far more than Louis. The build up of tension is really good in [b:The Queen of the Damned|43758|The Queen of the Damned (The Vampire Chronicles, #3)|Anne Rice|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1327871992s/43758.jpg|3147123]

This rating is specifically for Queen of the Damned, which did not hit as much as I was hoping it would :/
