Lucy Foley has a distinct syle that is similar to other crime fiction authors I have read. Similar to The Guest List, this story is told from multiple POVs. There are little hints scattered in the story and it is up to you to decide if you want to follow the trail and find out who has been murdered, why and by whom.

It is an easy, entertaining read that took me a few hours. The storyline is interesting, however, the characters are unlikeable and unrelatable. I didn't feel for the characters and it made me less curious about what had happened. I didn't even feel sorry for the character who had been murdered. In fact, throughout the whole story, I didn't care if any of them died. The plot is memorable but not enough to make me read the book a second time.

This book is filled with unlikeable characters yet the tension between them is well written and engaging. I binged it till I finished a couple hours past my bedtime. Overall, I'd recommend.

I actually liked this one. Dragged a bit to get to the point, but I still had fun with it. Read half and then listened to the audio for the second half.

Oooh i do love a good murder. This was such an easy book due to the small, fast-paced ‘chapters’. Plus the whole premise and setting was intriguing (love a good rich people country murder) and I like with Foley’s books you don’t find out the victim until right at the end (although admittedly this one is kinda obvious). Despite know who the murderer was, heheeheh I guessed with at least 100 pages to go heheh,  the writing and finale still was rather intense, with some parts I didn’t see coming. Everything was neatly wrapped up in a blood-tinted ribbon, I had no questions left unanswered.

I will say though, the sheer amount of characters was a bit much. Some had no relevance at all expect to be nice?? Idk. I also didn’t like the glasses stereotype going on. GRRR.

Apart from that, a nice easy read.

The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley was the latest read for my book club. I opted to do the audiobook. With that, I loved the narration, especially because it used different readers for different characters which is my personal audio preference. That said, it also took me some time to really "get" which voice was which person as there were multiple timelines and threads at play, but once I did, it was a wild ride y'all! The story focuses on a group of thirtysomething friends who have gotten together for a trip out in the country. The core group has known each other since college, and this trip has become an annual time to reconnect. However, this trip involves a death. The death is revealed early, but you aren't told who has been killed, and there is obvs also a killer involved. The story then backtracks through their time at the resort, as well as where their relationships have been. As the different narrators share their perspective, you start to see the cracks in the foundation of some of these friendships. With these cracks, you start to consider who might have been the perpetrator and victim of the crime. Y'all, the twist on this one was so darn good. I'd been craving a good jaw-dropping twist, and this was just what I needed. This was just a solid thriller all around!

Listened to the audiobook. 2.5. This one just didn’t hook me in.

I have a thing for psychological thrillers set in remote northern climes, and the audio narration on this one was riveting.
