Wow! Happy, sad, angry, excited. Just a few words to describe the emotions I felt while reading this book. My goodness was this good. Oof! I want more of this story! A sequel of sorts!

My rating: 3.5 stars

I didn't love love this book, though most in my book club liked it better than I did. It was our book club pick earlier this month. Our ratings ranged from 4.5 to 3.5 with an average rating of 3.96 (with 5 being best)
Had it not been a book club selection, I probably would have DNF'd the book. I didn't hate the book. The story was good, but slow. The story contained in the unpublished books was much more compelling than the present day story, and the book was longer than it needed to be. There was a lot of descriptive detail of landscape, rooms, etc. that wasn't particularly relevant to the story. There was also a fair amount of repetition and rehashing of events we'd already read about. If some of that had been omitted and the book cut down by about 50 pages, it would have been a much better read.
