This book focuses mostly on ways to help tame your inner monologue. While I didn't have an inner monologue, I still enjoyed this read. I was hoping for more information about why some people aren't as overwhelmed by an inner monologue.

This book does what it says on the tin. I really enjoyed reading it, especially as someone who has battled for a long time with an overwhelming negative inner voice.

Ethan makes some really interesting points backed up with evidence, and I am grateful for the toolbox he details at the end to combat this 'chatter' that many of us face. As I read this on my kindle, I'll be buying a hard copy to refer to every now and then :)

This was pretty interesting. The tips were nothing ground breaking, but they are easily applicable.

Most of the tools mentioned in this book are things learned in cognitive behavioral therapy, though the author doesn’t explain that. He does mention CBT, almost as if it is unrelated. I think the tools the can be helpful (I am, after all, a CBT practitioner), but didn’t find the book very interesting or well-written. I was rather loath to keep listening to it. I hope people find it beneficial.

Read this as part of a book club for work. I struggle with books like this. The information was overall helpful and the tools and practices easily able to be implemented. The issue I have with most books like this is that I don't think they actually need to be a book. The first 10 pages tells you exactly what the book is about, what it will address, and some of the ideas around dissecting the parts. Then the next 150 pages overly describes in painstaking detail every single concept, with numerous similar examples. Then the last 10 pages does a great recap, with all the bullets you would have needed to have understood all the information, without actually having to have read the book. Like I said, I liked the concepts and the tools, but this book could have easily been an article in my opinion.
