The story was very hard to follow. I've seen others describe this book as a "black licorice" book, meaning you love it, or you hate it. I hated it. It was confusing, I couldn't tell what was going on, and it feels like weaponizing mental illness disguised as "imagination." There was no real climax of the story, and felt like it droned on for 100 pages more than necessary. I also dislike any animal abuse or torture so, it just did not resonate with me. It's like a puzzle that fits really poorly together.

The main character has the “I’m not like other girls” personality, and never fails to let you forget it. The entire story and plot line follow how she is sooo different from alllll the other girls. It’s just an okay book, to me.

Really liked this book. It was gross and weird and dark and very fun to read. Like if Mean Girls was really dark and twisted. I do feel like the ending was lacking something—if not more explanations, perhaps it just needed MORE. Just felt kinda in line with the rest of the book and not necessarily the huge climax I was hoping for. If you like weird horror books, you’ll enjoy this one.

The main character, Samantha, is studying a master's degree and hates her classmates. As soon as she gets the chance to get close to them, even though she says she hates them, she takes it and gets involved in a grotesque situation as she drifts apart from her best friend.

I didn't really like the ending.

I don't understand why they recommend this book as a book about female friendship; it's about a cult, not about a group of friends. If you like violent and bizarre books, you should read this book.

-

I need to think on this book for a bit I think.

I know these things:
- I did fully enjoy reading this. I felt like it is a very interesting commentary on academia and girlhood and girl friendships and anyone socialized as female will definitely see themselves in one of the women in this book.
- I am too autistic for some of these unreliable narrators and the ambiguity this book. I have so many unanswered questions and also I don’t know what happened lol but I’m trying to figure it out.
- I love freaky books but this is by far the weirdest book I have read. Not in a bad way at all, just a comment.
- I wanted more about the decapitations going on in this fucked up weird town that Samantha and the Bunnies lived in.  I feel like there was a bunch of symbolism with that and I feel like it wasn’t fully wrapped up in a way that was pleasing to me personally.

I am torn on whether to do an in depth literature review on this book or whether to live and let live with this book. I think Ava would say “Smackie don’t fucking type that all out.” So I’ll end the review here: Good and weird book- I recommend it. 4 stars.

Please for the love of g-d read content warning before reading this. You should know what you are getting into. Take care of yourself!!!!!

"Samantha Heather Mackey thinks she understands everything, but she fails to understand the depths of the human heart. She fails to understand the depths of our heart. Our heart our heart our heart! We've read Jane Eyre too, you cunt."

Collage girl is befriended by the cliche mean girls but they're secretly horny bunny bludgeoners.
I appreciated the weird girl gore however I didn't really quite grasp what was happening at any time but neither did our main character.

Based purely on vibes it was a good book but I felt let down by the lack of any explanation behind the strange goings on, or consequences for these actions besides the swan incident at the end of the book.

What can I say about this book without giving away the twists and dives that makes it so fantastic? An earnestly fucked up encapsulation of the dark surrealism of both creation and creative spaces. I never knew what to expect next; my near-psychotic blend of dread and awe put me in the MC’s place in the most uncomfortable, awesome way. I laughed out loud at the horror far more than I felt I should’ve, which I fear was an intended side effect. And, that scene that launched the second act? Dare I say… Literary perfection.

This is a brief, gushy review that surely doesn’t make much sense. I’ll just be clear in my message at the end here: You sooo have to read Bunny, bunny!
