Loved it. A story of resilience. Of persevering love. Who doesn’t need that once in awhile?

2.5 I am grateful to this book for showing me how good other family dramas I’ve read are. The Most Fun We’ve Ever Had runs rings around it. Someone wrote a review that made me keep a copy of this at my bedside for over a year! This was serviceable storytelling but it and its inhabitants completely failed to reach my heart. And that’s where a family drama needs to hit.

Not really sure how I felt about this one. Felt so sad for Peter for the first half and then felt bad for his mom at the end?

I went into this book semi blind. I only heard the raves through the grape vine and knew that mental health conditions were highlighted. This book was heart reaching in the most melodic way. Semi tear jerker; gorgeous writing

4.5/5. Moved by the honest and insightful portrayal of Anne, as well as the resounding effects of childhood trauma in Peter’s character. Also loved the father-daughter relationship between Kate & Francis. My only issue was that Kate fell flat in the latter half of the book—her character as a child and young adult was far more interesting than adult Kate, for me. Absolutely loved it, overall.

Pretty good. Over vergeving en tweede kansen. Het volgt twee families voor 40 jaar en gaat over hun relaties door de jaren heen.

I enjoyed this book. It took me a few audiobooks to find one that connected. This is a story about two families and their trials, struggles and connections. Many great lessons on daily struggles and working through them. I
