This one will probably require a re-read. The switching between 2nd and 3rd person narration was really jarring for me, but I really enjoyed the story! I think it could've been written more cohesively, but maybe I'll enjoy it on a second go?

A grisly parable about inter-generational harm, particularly the harm men can do to women without meaning to. It’s a touch gruesome for me and some parts are hard to get through, but the writing style is vivid and really unique. Im not Native American so I’m sure there’s a lot that went over my head and I can’t speak to, but from an outsider perspective I think it was pretty well done!

This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The story is riveting. It is so beautifully crafted in its gory glory. The journey it took me on will live on in my mind forever.

the author really knows what hauntings are about. the characters really came to life, and it was horrifying and heartbreaking to watch them try to outrun the past. some gruesome imagery, but the violence didn't feel gratuitous. i'll be thinking about the ending for a while.
