This book is the best book I’ve read in years. I finished it in a few hours; I couldn’t stop reading. It warms your heart: the characters, the story, the dialogue. It also breaks that same heart. I finished the book 15 minutes ago, and I am still crying from the beauty and heartache. It is a hopeful book, but exposes the humanity and ache of love and grief.
I found myself in Clementine, the way she approaches life and loves so deeply. I also found myself falling in love with Iwan. I wanted to go on trips with her aunt, sit in that wing-back chair. So much of the story is palpable and beautiful. I lost my child-hood friend to suicide 6 months ago, the same time in the book that Clementine had lost her aunt.
I feel like I was meant to read this; my seven year in the future me would come in to my house, and place this book in my hands, and tell me to feel. Tell me to heal. There are only a handful of books I think about all the time, even as an avid reader. This is going to be one of them. It is going to rest in my bones and mind, run the space inside my skull, and ask to be examined again. I know it. I cannot give higher praise for this book. Easily, one of my favorite of all time.

Always chase the moon

The Seven Year Slip was a cute time travel rom com with themes of grief and finding your passion.

The romance was sweet if a little insta-lovey. I like the nicknames. The side characters were charming. The pacing was good.

I enjoyed it but not as much as I thought I would.

This book made me realize why I read mostly YA… from the very beginning with the characters starting off at this high end restaurant talking about the wine. Every dinner scene after that they’re drinking wine or beer with their meal. I’m just like so tired of alcohol/wine culture being so normalized. Maybe I also just don’t relate to Clementine because she’s privileged, gets to travel wherever and go to these fancy fine dining places.

I’m sorry but who says someone’s name or nickname multiple times in one conversation? Maybe I’m the weird one but that seems so unrealistic and too intimate? 😭😂

I tried to read this book after reading Song Of Achilles. I was not ready, I was still mourning the last book and the pace at first was too slow. So it sat unread for a few months before I finally came back. And I fell in love quickly. It was such a beautiful cheesy and nostalgic read In the way that makes you want to experience your first love again. It had me tearing up and rooting for the characters happy ending in such a sad set of circumstances. And I think the grief handled in this book was handled well.

Let me begin by saying that I absolutely loved this book. It got me all emotional and in my feels.

The only reason I’m not rating it higher is because it was a little predictable. I figured out who the love interest was in the first few chapters.

That said, the book was sublimely enjoyable. I loved the time traveling elements, I think they were written beautifully. The writing was excellent.

Would definitely recommend.

I don’t even know what to say right now—I think I bawled through the last 10 chapters. This book was so beautiful. It was a love story, not only between Clementine and Iwan across time, but between Clementine and her aunt. Although the book started a little slow for me, it ended up being a 5-star read because the writing, the characters, the tale, were all so engaging. And even though I caught on to context cues and was able to predict some of the storyline and character relations, it didn’t ruin the story for me. I know I will be thinking about this book for days and even weeks later. Loved it! P.S. There is some heavy mental health content (and that part was actually very healing for me), so read with care.

I really appreciated how this book handled grief, and I related to Clementine in that regard. That was definitely the highlight for me.

When it came to the romance, though, it felt more like two lonely people seeking comfort rather than a genuine love story. I would have preferred seeing their present-day romance develop with some glimpses into their past, rather than the somewhat disjointed portrayal we got of a tortured character and a love that felt a bit unclear.

I’m giving it three stars because I liked the portrayal of grief, and while the romance wasn’t perfect, it wasn’t too bad either. (I finished this an hour ago so maybe will change it to 2.75 later)
