I have absolutely no idea what to think about this book… there were a few good thoughts and passages (and many of those came off as quite pretentious), but none of them were more than very simple mentions, only brushing the actual topic. Also, the sex scenes were not my thing. They generally felt weird, especially when paired with the pseudo-catholic thought experiments about Jesus. And since I’m not the biggest fan of smut, a book where there is about 50/50 sex scenes and actual story (if you could call it that) doesn’t work for me. All in all, simply not my kind of story :/

Sally Rooney’s ability to put emotion in word will always be a reason why i love her work. She so beautifully captured what it feels like to experience the contrast of every day life - feeling the magnitude of the world and how small it may make you feel, or the crux of thinking your own problems may be trivial in comparison to the greater multitude & how insincere it sometimes feels to care about who you’re hooking up with or who you love and your common relationships  that make up your life. i thought this was a beautiful read that captured the nuances of various relationships you may have in your life and how they make you who you are.

This book was a lot like normal people but now it’s with two couples instead of one. I definitely liked "normal people" more but this book was also good. However, though Eileen and Simon are 29 and 34 now, they first met when they were a lot younger so they knew each other when they were 13 and 18 which doesn’t sound very nice. I also don’t agree with everything Eileen and Alice said in their emails to each other but I liked their way of thinking. I also really like the cover.
