This book was a hard one to get through until the last 1/4th of it. I didn’t really care for the interrogations or the banter between the cops but once the hostages actually began talking to each other in the apartment, it all came together for me. I understand you need to know about the connections between the people on the bridge and the witnesses, but a lot of the in between to me was unnecessary.

The last 100 pages of the book were incredible and Blackman is able to get his point across by the end. We’re all just doing our best and the strangers who cross our paths are figuring out this life just like you and me.

A bank robbery, a hostage situation, a bridge, a group of strangers...put all of that together and combine it with Backman's witty writing style and you have Anxious People.

This book was SO good, one of my favorite books out of all that I have read this year. This book is not what you think it is, meaning it is about a bank robbery, a hostage situation, a bridge, and a group of strangers but it is also about kindness and empathy.

Backman's clever delivery is unlike any other author's and makes this book such a joy to read. I started and finished this book in one day, I simply could not put it down. It's very hard to review in much more detail without giving the plot away, so I'll leave you with this...

I highly recommend this book to others, seriously...read it!

This book is jumbled and rambling, at times inane. At the same time it’s incredibly sweet and gave me a lot to think about. And the ramblings were some of the most meaningful parts.

Backman being Backman, what else to say?
I simply love Fredrik's writing and how in the end everything makes sense, even when the beginning seems a little boring and confusing. And the cherry on top is that we can always, always find important messages behind the story.

This book was incredibly weird but I loved the way the story pieced itself together. Fav quote is “you don’t fall in love with a gender… you fall in love with an idiot”

Backman could write about peeling cucumbers and it would still be beautiful.

I’m seriously so impressed how someone can make a comedy so profound. I loved every character with all their quirks.
