I liked this far more than the first book in the series, Fallen. There is more depth added to the main character. She doesn't seem as much an observer in her own life, though the story still moves a little slower than I'd like. I was shocked to discover that the climax of this book only takes place 3 months after the previous book started.

Against my better judgement (and because I am so cheap) I persuaded by librarian to buy this for my school and I am so ashamed.

I'm going to make this quick. The only good thing about this book was the transporting. The rest was awful. First, no boarding school- angel or human- is like this new one. I know it's California and whatever but It's actually so laughable- pretty much like the character development in this book. I still don't like Luce. I still don't like David. So I stopped reading.

I'm going to try and write more positive reviews but some YA tries me.

This book i liked more then the first, however I got very annoyed by how Daniel expected her to follow the rules she didn't really know were there and accept the rules he told her without giving her an explanation. I really liked that se had some development in this book compared to the first. This book also didn't have as many to detailed environment explanations.

Torment moves faster than Fallen, which was desperately needed. Luce and Daniel must stay apart for 18 days, she is sent to a new school with a cast of vibrant characters. Shelby is the mean girl, Miles is sweet, and yes we see Cam and Daniel again as well as a few others from Sword and Cross. There are still questions, what is Luce exactly? Who can Luce trust? Will there be a happily ever after for Daniel and Luce? Hopefully some of these will be answered in book 3.
