Most of the essays are extremely technical and intellectual, and this is probably why I didn’t really care.
I did enjoy the first, personal one, and the one about Gramsci.

Interesting reflections on the act of translation in this collection of essays which explore her own decision to write in Italian and her translation of her own work as well as the novels of Domenico Starnone. Made me want to check out Starnone's work.

I don't know if I reccomend this anthology for people who aren't studying Italian (idk if it's applicable to other languages). But this reignited my love for a language that I was scared I'd lose over the summer. I appreciated Lahari's musings as well

Incredible essay collection that gives a glimpse into the brilliant multilingual mind of Jhumpa Lahiri. I appreciated reading about how her mind works through language, and learning about her remarkable life and the passion she clearly holds for the Italian language and the idea of transformation which she seems particularly fascinated and driven by.

I really enjoyed reading about such a niche topic such as the art of translation. I never really considered it an art prior to read this book, but now I definitely see it that way. I think as someone who spoke one language at home and another outside of home, I felt a deeper understanding and appreciation for many of the chapters. The only reason I felt this wasn't a 5 star book is because I felt that it went on for a bit too long.
