I love the concept of this series, but it just couldn't hold my interest. It drags on and the plot is more complicated than necessary.

This is still my favourite in the series even after all these years. A truly magical trilogy and a wonderful, albeit long, ending to a wonderous tale of the might ans magic of words.

Slow paced, and I was tired of the writing being a bit too childish

3.5!
Felt far too long, without much actually happening.
But in the final quarter things really picked up, and was pleased with the ending.

Loved this book, and this series. If you are a fan of the Neverending Story, you will probably like this.

Action, Action and more action! The main characters always in peril! Imprisonment, betrayals and brushes with death! This book is jam packed with excitement and action. It was a fun read and the 663 pages just flew by.
I originally read this series when I was younger but never ended up reading this last book. I still think this series is pretty dark for a ‘children’s books’. Definitely a four star for me, could have rated higher but there were some undertones of sexism (and I didn’t like that a young teen character was being romantically paired with much older men).

I’m horridly disappointed by this book. The first one will remain a childhood fav, but guyyyyss I am pretending Inkheart is a stand-alone because while Inkspell was aight, this suckeeeeddd. I am so sad but like—nothing happened in this 660 page book!!!!!!!! All the characters acted like completely different people with absolutely no care for the people they were supposed to care about. Mo and Resa literally gave no shits about Meggie. Like??????? Also, they STAY in the Inkworld?? Like???? You’re going to stay in the most dangerous place ever with your kid so she can be in constant danger all the time?? Wtf is wrong with u.
Anyway, Inkheart is a totally different story basically than Inkspell and this one, so my recommendation is just to read that one and stop. I’m sooo bummed. I still love Inkheart and The Thief Lord enough to try Reckless (the other series she’s written), but in my brain, this trilogy stops at the first book :/
