Lovely Bad Things by Trisha Wolfe is a contemporary, enemies-to-lovers dark romance with flavors of “psychological thriller” intertwined into the plot. It’s the first book in Trisha’s “Hollows Row” series (Books 1 and 2 are available, book 3’s release date is TBD). In this book, you’ll need to pay attention to trigger warnings, especially if topics like the occult, graphic crime scenes, blööd and knîfe play, and viôlence disturb you.

I’m convinced that Trisha Wolfe is in her element when writing romances combined with elements of psychology and philosophy. The inner workings and monologues of her characters minds are so believable, and consequently attaches me further to them. Trisha’s prose is lyrical, methodical and expressive - she truly stands out as a force in the dark romance genre.

Our two protagonists, Kallum and Halen, are quite intriguing to me - particularly Kallum. The chapters with his point-of-view were my favorite, and I particularly enjoyed diving into the psychology professor’s obsessive and brilliant mind. Halen is a character I’m still trying to pin down, but I am confident that I’ll understand her and her motives better in book 2,

This was such a fun and dark thriller romance. This has everything I love in a good thriller, a murder mystery, a touch of a cult vibe, a wild plot twist, and a dark and broody love interest. Kallum is absolutely amazing. I loved his character so much! And the chemistry and heat were off the charts. I love Joe Arden's narration, he just has the unhinged psychopaths down to a tee!

The relationship kind of reminded me of the show Lucifer. I really liked the whole ritualistic killing thing.

🌶️ Rating: 1/5

Halen is a crime scene investigator who has just come off a case where she accused someone of murder in a courtroom, and he was sent to an asylum. When she is sent to a new crime scene, she decides to enlist the help of the man she just sent away, because Kallum was a professor and expert on Nietzsche and the occult. The entire premise is bonkers and unrealistic. Kallum gets away and is basically given free rain to do as he pleases anyway. Halen keeps making dumb choices. The smut isn’t even that hot. This whole book just felt pretentious. I was thoroughly confused for like 80% of it. It needed less literary debate and more plot.

Criminal Minds x Sexy Hannibal Lector

“All the way down to the pits of hell with the devil himself.” Her slitted pixie eyes slice me. “You asked me which one of us was selling our soul. I think you now have your answer.” A smile forms as I hover in the doorway. “The ninth circle welcomes you, sweetness.”

I loved it!

This was dark twisty intense and unrealistic but you didn’t grab this book to be sucked into reality! Like am I supposed to hate Kallum? I know I’m supposed to hate Kallum. I know I’m not supposed to be rooting for him but I was (shame). And the twist! I was NOT expecting that little tidbit.

Kallum… strange, confusing, possibly sociopath that I feel we should not like…. But I did

This book was everything! I couldn’t get enough and never wanted to stop reading. Delicious tenseness through out and instant love of the characters.
