This book was good. It was nicely written and also it has 3 or 4 characters. I don't usually like short stories but I read some short stories like this book I read. So, maybe I'll give this book 3 stars.

SCHOOL LIBRARIAN REVIEW:
Wonderful on many levels. I can see this used in many teaching units, and also as a read-aloud in many classrooms. It would create discussion about so many things. I could write a novel in this review space but I won't. Read it for yourself - it'll only take an hour or so - then use it as needed in your classroom.

Google 'Seedfolks Lesson Plans' and you'll find more information on your specific needs.

I read this book in one day. I loved the structure that it was written in. Each chapter was a different character's point of view. I didn't want the book to end. I could visualize the garden and the people in it and I just wanted to keep reading about their lives and how it intertwined with the garden.

A charming novella in 13 voices. What happens in an urban community when one person starts a community garden on a vacant lot. Though this is really aimed at middle graders, one teacher at my high school ordered up a class set and her students read it every year. A good way to start high school, she thought.

This book is a series of vignettes about people who work in or live next to a community garden. Each chapter is from one character’s perspective. No characters repeat chapters, but you can kind of see how different characters you’ve already read about are sprinkled throughout new characters’ chapters. This is not a book I would have chosen to teach, but it is a book I will be teaching. I don’t see kids being interested in this, but maybe I will be wrong.

Told in alternating voices. This book could easily be enjoyed by readers of all ages as it is short and simple enough for the young, but poignant for older, more mature readers.
