Loved this book! The characters were fantastic, descriptions were visceral, and the theme was relatable. I kept sending quotes to my partner because they were so iconic.

This book is slow burn, gothic-esk, horror that I, a scaredy cat, can get behind. There are many different types of monsters in this story, and you can’t tell which is scarier. Road trip plus American highways plus emotions plus things that go bump in the night and day equals this book.

Alice Isn’t Dead is a great novel adaptation by the casting the same name. While I prefer the podcast, I did enjoy the book. There’s a lot of great visual descriptions that lend itself to great horror moments, which is the novel’s greatest strength. I also enjoyed the message of hope, and the importance of fighting against hate and doing what’s right — especially when you’re scared. The only drawback for me is the pacing, and sometimes the writing style. There’s a couple of moments where I feel paragraphs or sentences end abruptly, but overall, I enjoyed it!
